In an unexpected confrontation that went viral quickly, María Julia Oliván and Yanina Latorre starred in a tense exchange on social media. It all started with Oliván's statements about the role of men in the media and a reflection by Mario Pergolini on the anniversary of Ni Una Menos.

The journalist, on her streaming channel Border Periodismo, ironically questioned the change Pergolini supposedly had regarding past macho attitudes. She recalled her own experience working with him and mentioned unpleasant situations she faced.

Yanina Latorre responded by defending the host and argued that many journalists from that era had similar behaviors, citing examples of other figures. She believed that if someone has evolved, it is not appropriate to continue attacking them.

Additionally, Latorre opined that Oliván seemed resentful and that she ended up on bad terms with many people in the industry. This statement further fueled the controversy.

Oliván's response on social media

Oliván did not stay silent and detailed her time at Pergolini's production company between 2004 and 2007. She stated that the actions she mentioned occurred when he was around 40 years old and not in his youth. She defended her decision to speak publicly and rejected any pressure towards her own employees.

Upon learning of the statement, the host of Sálvese Quien Pueda quoted the message and compared her to Viviana Canosa, challenging her to formally report if she had anything concrete.

Oliván took up the challenge and returned with several uncomfortable questions. She recalled the show Latorre had done about Jorge Lanata's hospitalization and questioned her added value in the media, suggesting it was mainly due to being the wife of former footballer Diego Latorre.

Escalation of accusations

The accountant responded harshly, highlighting her own success and calling her "pautera." She accused Oliván of living off state funding and not being hired by anyone in traditional television.

Oliván acknowledged an initial mistake in attributing a comment related to Perón, clarifying that it came from lawyer Lara Piro on LAM. She then defended her independence and her streaming project, which she claimed receives funding but allows her freedom.

Latorre insisted that she prefers to be "oversold" doing PNT on television and presented herself as someone free who does not get paid to defend or attack positions. She denied being employed by anyone.

The exchange highlighted the differences in style and the old grudges of the Argentine entertainment and journalism world. While Oliván bets on her independent space, Latorre defends her place on América's screen and her career.

The debate also touched on deeper issues such as personal evolution, gender violence, and how the memory of past behaviors is handled in the media environment. For now, neither of them has considered the matter closed, and followers continue to comment on the clash.
