The United States Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, congratulated President Javier Milei on La Libertad Avanza's performance in the legislative elections and expressed his confidence in the country's economic direction.
“Yesterday, from South Korea, I spoke with President Javier Milei to congratulate him on the monumental victory in the midterm elections. His strength and vision are bringing hope to a new generation of Argentines,” Bessent posted on his official X account.
The American official, who has a close relationship with Donald Trump's administration, also emphasized that the message of economic freedom promoted by Milei "is reverberating throughout the Western Hemisphere and leading the way in Latin America."

Bessent stated that "markets should enthusiastically meet the Republic's financial needs for 2026," a statement that was interpreted as a sign of confidence in the stabilization program and the market-opening policies promoted by the Argentine Government.
American financial sources also highlighted that the Treasury continues to closely monitor the evolution of the Argentine market and the progress in the consolidation of reserves and the primary surplus.
The youth vote and popular sectors
One of the most notable parts of the message was the reference to voters: "I was especially gratified to learn that young people and the poorest sectors of Argentina overwhelmingly voted for President Milei. They know this is the last chance to break with decades of poor economic management," Bessent wrote.
Several reports published after the elections confirmed this trend: neighborhoods and districts historically identified with Kirchnerism showed strong support for the libertarian administration, marking a deep change in the country's political map.
Milei replied with gratitude and reaffirmed his alliance with the U.S.
President Milei publicly replied to the Treasury Secretary's message: "Thank you, Secretary Bessent, for your warm words and unwavering support. The Argentine people have spoken decisively in favor of economic freedom and prosperity, and we appreciate this recognition," the president wrote in English.
Milei added: "We look forward to continuing to work together, guided by the principles of freedom, to foster unprecedented growth in our hemisphere. I am glad to know you will return to Argentina soon. We await you with open arms. MAGA!"

It is worth noting that with this statement, President Milei secured a new visit from Bessent to our country. These exchanges between both officials consolidate U.S. support for Argentina's liberal direction.
The harmony between both governments marks a new stage for the region: The United States recognizes Milei's leadership as a reference for the liberal resurgence in Latin America, after decades of populism and state control.
