Argentina and US alliance: this was the meeting between Rubio and Werthein
One of the key points of the conversation was strengthening cooperation in strategic economic sectors
In a new chapter of diplomatic and strategic strengthening, Argentine Chancellor Gerardo Werthein and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a bilateral meeting that marks a turning point in the relationship between both countries.
With a shared vision of progress, freedom, and defense of democracy, the officials agreed on the need to advance a joint agenda that ranges from economic cooperation to the direct fight against authoritarian regimes that threaten the stability of the continent.

"Our continued alliance with Argentina translates into greater economic opportunities that can benefit all our citizens", highlighted Rubio after the meeting. In this context, it was agreed to enhance commercial and diplomatic relations, consolidating Javier Milei's Argentina as a strategic ally of the United States in the region.
One of the key points of the conversation was the strengthening of cooperation in strategic economic sectors, where Argentina has shown a renewed commitment to free market and foreign investment since Milei came to power. The United States especially valued the economic openness and deregulation undertaken by the Argentine government, seeing in the country an opportunity to strengthen commercial ties and generate a positive impact on both economies.

However, the meeting was also marked by a strong geopolitical component. Both Werthein and Rubio reaffirmed their rejection of the authoritarian regimes of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, identifying them as a threat to the security and democratic values of the region. In this regard, the Argentine Chancellor exposed the serious situation of the gendarme Nahuel Gallo, illegally detained in Venezuela, as well as the humanitarian crisis faced by Venezuelan citizens sheltered in the Argentine Embassy in Caracas.
The alignment between Argentina and the United States under Milei's administration reinforces the commitment of both countries to freedom and development. In this sense, Werthein extended an official invitation to Rubio to visit Argentina in the short term, with the aim of further deepening the agreements reached.
