Vélez wants to strengthen its squad with another player ruled out by Gallardo at River

Liniers' club has already agreed to the arrival of a high-value player and could add another one who also wasn't among Muñeco's considerations

After River's disappointing participation in the Club World Cup and with the transfer window still open, Marcelo Gallardo began to rebuild the squad with significant decisions. In this context, the head coach informed several key players that they would not be considered.

Some cases were predictable, such as Gonzalo Tapia (loaned for 18 months to São Paulo), Leandro González Pirez (free to Estudiantes), or Matías Rojas. However, there are some that made more noise and were surprising, such as Manuel Lanzini, Santiago Simón, and Rodrigo Aliendro.

For now, Aliendro is the only one with a more or less confirmed destination: Vélez. Meanwhile, Rojas, Simón, and Lanzini still have not defined their future, although the last two have already attracted interest.

In recent hours, Guillermo Barros Schelotto asked the president of Fortín, Fabián Berlanga, to make an effort for Manu. The midfielder, who was linked to Toronto FC in MLS, could continue in Argentine soccer if he accepts a lower contract than he had at River. If an offer arrives, those at Núñez would not put up obstacles, since they will not demand a high fee and will prioritize his departure.

Meanwhile, the Millonario also has Maher Carrizo in sight, a Liniers gem with a 16 million dollar release clause. However, there will be no direct swap with Lanzini, negotiations for both players are progressing separately.

The arrival of Carrizo could be added to those ofJuan Carlos Portillo and Matías Galarza Fonda, while Gallardo continues with the deep restructuring of the squad.
