Video: Mariano Pérez defended himself against an unknown striker who threatened and hit him

'Obviously I tried to avoid the conflict. I am a peaceful man. But he threw a punch at me and I had to react,' he explained

In recent hours, a video that went viral on social media sparked controversy by showing  the libertarian journalist Mariano Pérez in a street confrontation.  According to his own explanation, it was the result of an act of self-defense against a physical assault by a staunch Kirchnerist.

The images capture the moment when Pérez defends himself against a young man who provoked and attempted to attack him after recognizing him  as a public figure linked to the libertarian space.

"He had a Kirchnerist face. I told him I didn't want to fight in the street, but he approached, and I had to defend myself," Pérez explained during his participation in the Carajo streaming.

"Obviously, I tried to avoid the conflict. I'm a peaceful man but he threw a punch, and I had to react," he added. To make it clear that his intention was not to start any kind of fight, but to protect himself from a direct aggression.

The context of the incident is significant: Pérez has been a recurrent victim of attacks and provocations due to his role as a libertarian communicator, both on social media and at public events.

At 24 years old, and as the visible face of the successful channel Break Point, the young man has been a frequent target of insults and attempts at public shaming by sectors linked to Kirchnerism.

Far from victimizing himself, Pérez assumed his reaction as a consequence of being pushed to the limit, and he didn't rule out participating in a sports confrontation with another figure from the opposing streaming side.

"Jove? He better start training. This was just a street fight. I'm going to prepare for boxing," he stated, referring to "Párense de Manos," an amateur boxing event.
