Warhorse Studios, the studio behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance, has finally confirmed what its next big projects will be. The developer is already working on a new open-world RPG set in Middle-earth and another installment linked to the successful medieval saga.

The news comes after the huge impact of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, one of the standout releases in the RPG genre.

Warhorse Studios will develop an RPG set in Middle-earth

Through social media, the studio owned by Embracer Group confirmed that it is developing an “open-world RPG set in Middle-earth.”

Although many are already automatically linking it to The Lord of the Rings, it is not yet confirmed that the game will focus on the classic events of Frodo, Aragorn, or the Fellowship of the Ring.

The description suggests that it could be an original story set in another era of the universe created by J. R. R. Tolkien, something that has sparked all kinds of speculation among fans.

Why Warhorse is a perfect fit for a medieval fantasy RPG

The choice of Warhorse Studios to lead this project does not seem coincidental. The Kingdom Come: Deliverance saga stood out precisely for offering a realistic medieval approach, detailed open maps, and a much more mature and strategic narrative.

Many players already envision this new project as a kind of “Kingdom Come with fantasy,” combining exploration, tactical combat, and a setting inspired by Middle-earth.

Additionally, the studio has gained prestige for prioritizing immersion and historical realism, something that could provide a different perspective on Tolkien's universe.

There will also be a new Kingdom Come

Warhorse Studios also confirmed that it is already working on a “new Kingdom Come adventure,” although it avoided revealing too many details.

For now, it is unclear whether it will be an expansion, a spin-off, or directly a third main installment of the franchise. However, everything indicates that Kingdom Come will continue to be one of the studio's priorities.

The commercial and critical success of the second installment has strengthened the saga as one of the most important RPG franchises in the European catalog.

Embracer is betting big on its most important franchises

These announcements are part of a new strategy by Embracer Group, which seeks to enhance several of its intellectual properties through the Fellowship Entertainment division.
