Intense week: blows to drug trafficking, closure of trust funds, and tax relief

Security, Fight Against Crime, and New Management Measures

The National Government deployed a series of high-impact operations against drug trafficking this week, dismantled dangerous criminal gangs, launched state modernization measures, and advanced in the elimination of trust funds with questionable management. Policies were also implemented to alleviate the tax burden on SMEs and to regulate the professional practice in health.

Blows to Drug Trafficking Across the Country

51 kilos of drugs were seized in a wooded area in the province of Chaco. Additionally, more than 90 kilos were confiscated in San Juan, belonging to a drug gang from Corrientes, and more than 10 kilos of cocaine on National Route 34, which were being transported in a shipment of mattresses and refrigerators.

A ton of drugs was also seized in the Paraná River, thrown from a boat on the riverbank, and 31 kilos of cocaine were seized in a truck heading to La Rioja, thanks to the efforts of Squadron 45 "Salta".

Dismantling of Criminal Gangs and Drug Seizures

In the town of La Banda, Santiago del Estero, a manaccused of drug trafficking was arrested, and numerous doses of narcotics were seized.

In Aguilares, Tucumán, a residence was raided where marijuana plants and cannabis sativa oil were seized.

Meanwhile, in Moreno, a dangerous gang accused of aggravated homicides, attempted murder, and possession of weapons of war was dismantled. In Rosario, a drug trafficking gang was dismantled, and four criminals linked to the organization were arrested, who extorted a man with death threats and demanded 20 million pesos from him.

Economic Crime and Organized Crime

In Barrio 31, a gang dedicated to the unlocking and resale of stolen cell phones was dismantled. In CABA, a criminal gang that defrauded UBA of more than $1.5 billion was arrested, led by "La China," who created fake companies and emails to divert institutional funds to third-party accounts.

In Salta, a patrol from the "North" Citizen Security Squadron detected boxes containing 520 million pesoswithout the corresponding documentation. The seizure of the found sum was ordered, and a citizen was subjected to the case.

Additionally, the Tren de Aragua and RAM criminal organizations were added to the Public Registry of Persons and Entities linked to acts of terrorism and its financing.

New Tools to Combat Crime

Minister Patricia Bullrich presented the national code *910, which will allow blocking stolen cell phones nationwide. From now on, any victim can disable their line and the device immediately.

Support Measures and Modernization of Services

The payment of the unique supplement for reconstruction was initiated for those affected in Bahía Blanca.

The mandatory use of QR codes in pharmacies nationwide was regulated to check the prices of the medications they sell.

From now on, the National License for health workers will be a sufficient requirement to practice professionally in national hospitals and institutions.

Closure of Trust Funds and Reforms in Public Entities

The Government defined the closure of the Trust Funds for Scientific and Technological Promotion (FONDOTEC) and Socio-Urban Integration (FISU), due to questionable use of funds, lack of controls, and results. With these actions, 24 funds have already been dissolved.

The lease agreement that ATE had since 2008 to manage the building "La Pastera", located in Lanín National Park, was also revoked to reopen this cultural space declared a historical asset. ATE had turned that property into a Che Guevara museum.

Similarly, the National Institute "Juan Domingo Perón" for Historical, Social, and Political Studies, as well as the Permanent National Commission of Tribute to Lieutenant General Perón, will cease to exist, as historical research will continue in universities and academic centers, avoiding an unnecessary budgetary burden.

Tax Relief and Positive Economic Data

The National Government eliminated export duties on 88% of industrial products. Now, 4,411 products will not have to pay withholdings of between 3% and 4.5%, benefiting 40% of Argentine exporting companies, mostly SMEs.

In April, retail sales of SMEs increased by 3.7% year-on-year, and the country's total tax revenuegrew by 7% in real terms year-on-year.

Recognition to President Javier Milei

The President of the Nation, Javier Milei, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, was awarded the Equestrian Military Order "Knight Grenadier of the Andes" by the Regiment of Mounted Grenadiers. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defense, Luis Petri, and the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, who accompanied the president in his honorary incorporation into this historic unit created by General San Martín.
