Chaco election results: La Libertad Avanza sweeps and buries Kirchnerism
The Chaco Puede + La Libertad Avanza coalition surpassed the Peronist front led by Capitanich by more than 11 points
In a key electoral day for the political landscape of northern Argentina, the alliance between the provincial government and La Libertad Avanza (LLA) achieved a resounding victory in the legislative elections on May 11 in Chaco.
With 74% of the polling stations counted, the coalition Chaco Puede + La Libertad Avanza reached 45% of the votes, surpassing the Peronist front Chaco Merece Más, led by former governor Jorge Capitanich, by more than 11 points, as it only achieved 33.63%. In third place, far behind, was the Frente Primero Chaco of the Kirchnerist Magda Ayala, mayor of Barranqueras, with just 11.35%.
This is the first formal alliance experience between a provincial governor and the political space led nationally by Javier Milei. The electoral result not only consolidates Leandro Zdero's administration but also marks a milestone in the territorial expansion of LLA, which continues to strengthen its presence beyond the City of Buenos Aires and the Province.
During the day, the electoral process proceeded normally. Although there were some minor complaints —such as the absence of polling station authorities in some locations— none of these irregularities compromised the transparency or the results of the electoral act.
The victory also comes at a strategic moment: a few months before the national elections in October, this advance reinforces La Libertad Avanza's message about the need for a new provincial government model based on spending reduction, transparency, fiscal balance, and tax reduction. In this sense, the political harmony between Zdero and Milei demonstrates the provincial-national co-governance model.
The result in Chaco adds to the good election obtained by the libertarians in Salta, confirming a trend that positions La Libertad Avanza as the main opposition space to the provincial governments in much of the country's interior.
