What was Cris Morena's reaction upon learning of her granddaughter's death?
The producer was in Buenos Aires when she received the call. She traveled urgently to meet her son
Pain struck the Yankelevich family once again. Mila, the youngest daughter of Tomás Yankelevich and Sofía Reca, and granddaughter of Cris Morena and Gustavo Yankelevich, died this Monday in a tragic boating accident in Miami. She was only seven years old.
The music producer was in Buenos Aires, preparing a trip to Uruguay, when she received the devastating news. The call, which came during the night on Monday, immediately paralyzed her plans. Without hesitation, she began to arrange her urgent transfer to the United States to join her son and support him during the most difficult moment of their lives.
However, due to high demand for flights and last-minute limitations, she was unable to secure immediate tickets. Finally, she managed to board a flight to Miami this Tuesday afternoon, where she is expected to reunite with the rest of the family clan.
Muere la nieta de Cris Morena en una tragedia náutica
Mila was born on February 13, 2018, and was a light in Cris Morena's life, who always remembered her publicly with words of deep love and tenderness. The girl arrived eight years after the death of Romina Yan, a tragedy that left an indelible mark on the family.
On her last birthday, Cris dedicated a message to her that now takes on a moving value: "Mila, my little girl with wings, my happy and free little fairy... You are sunshine, freedom, hugs, beautiful restless one, sweet beloved girl, special, brilliant dear granddaughter. I love you always!"
The connection between the two was deep. Mila grew up surrounded by art, music, and affection, in an environment where family was always the center.

How did the accident happen?
On Monday morning, Mila was participating in a sailing activity as part of a summer camp at the Miami Yacht Club. She was traveling on a sailboat along with five other girls between 7 and 13 years old and a 19-year-old instructor. Everything was proceeding normally until a barge collided with the small vessel in the Hibiscus Island area, in Biscayne Bay.
The impact caused everyone to fall into the water. Despite the immediate intervention of divers, rescuers, firefighters, and medical teams, two of the girls —Mila and another 13-year-old Argentine minor— died after being transported in critical condition to local health centers. Two other minors remain hospitalized in serious condition.
"It was an extremely chaotic scene, as you can imagine, especially since it involved children," said Lieutenant Pete Sánchez, spokesperson for the Miami Beach Fire Department.
