When Islamic terrorists used a photo of Cristina Kirchner at a march in Gaza

Alongside the former president, there were photos of Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the deceased terrorist leader Hassan Nasrallah

In an image that continues to generate controversy and outrage more than a decade after the events, Palestinian terrorists marched in the Gaza Strip holding signs with the faces of international leaders aligned with their interests. Among them, and as expected, was none other than the then-president of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

The demonstration took place in September 2014, as part of a march organized by various Islamic terrorist groups, among which was the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), specifically its armed wing: the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades.

This leftist extremist group, which used the image of Cristina Kirchner, has a long history of armed attacks against Israeli civilians, and is openly anti-Western.

Other figures used by the terrorists

During the march, participants displayed banners with images of figures admired in the Arab world for their anti-Israel and anti-American stance. In addition to Cristina Kirchner, portraits appeared of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chávez, Iranian ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Fidel Castro, and the late leader of the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah. All of them were portrayed as "symbols of resistance against imperialism."

The most concerning aspect is that, at that demonstration, not only were members of the PFLP present, but also members of other Islamic armed organizations, including fighters linked to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, to Hezbollah (Lebanese group backed by Iran), and to militias aligned with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The participants chanted slogans against Israel, the United States, and "the allies of the West."

The inclusion of Cristina Kirchner's face in that context was interpreted as a gesture of sympathy for her critical stance toward Israel during the Israeli military operation in Gaza in 2014. That year, and throughout her presidency, the then-Argentinian leader maintained an openly hostile stance toward the State of Israel in several international forums.

More than ten years after that episode, the image continues to circulate on social media, generating anger among the public. However, the central fact remains: the then-Argentinian president was held up in a march that brought together terrorist groups financed by regimes such as Iran's and responsible for attacks like the AMIA bombing in Buenos Aires.

At a time when Argentina's role on the international stage is being debated, the memory of that image serves as a reminder of a foreign policy that flirted with anti-democratic and radicalized sectors of the Islamic world.
