Why didn't Georgina Barbarossa talk about Mila Yankelevich's death on her show

The host only reported the death a day later, which caught the viewers' attention

The passing of Mila Yankelevich, daughter of Tomás Yankelevich and Sofía Reca, shocked the entire Argentine artistic and television community.

The girl, granddaughter of Gustavo Yankelevich and Cris Morena, lost her life on July 28 in a tragic boating accident in Miami, where two vessels collided, resulting in the deaths of two minors.

On July 29, Georgina Barbarossa opened her show A la Barbarossa (Telefe) with the painful news.

Several boats and a crane are working at sea while, in the corner, the image of a girl with a flower headband and a beaded necklace appears.

"I never would have wanted to deliver this news. All of television knows the Yankelevich family. I have to report, and it breaks my heart, that Tomás Yankelevich's daughter has just passed away in a boating accident," she said, visibly moved.

Her colleague, Pía Shaw, provided further details about the incident that occurred in U.S. waters.

However, the following day, Telefe's program did not revisit the topic, which sparked curiosity among viewers. In a conversation with the show Sálvese quien pueda, hosted by Yanina Latorre on América, the host explained the reasons for her decision.

Telefe's production team wanted to respect the family's mourning | La Derecha Diario

"We did it yesterday. Each person addresses the topic as best they can; she is a very public figure and very beloved by the entire television community and by the public. So, when there is a tragedy like this, one tries to cover it in every possible way," Barbarossa remarked, hinting at the emotional difficulty involved in addressing such a painful event.

She also added that her team felt that revisiting the news would be excessive: "We shared that information, and today it already seemed too much to us because it was on every channel. We tried to do the show as we do every day, but it's hard."

Mila Yankelevich's death caused a wave of messages of solidarity toward the family, who remain in mourning while friends, colleagues, and public figures support them in their grief.

Among the celebrities who spoke out on the matter were Marcelo Tinelli, Guido Kaczka, Benjamín Vicuña, Nico Vázquez, Ángel De Brito.

It is worth noting that the greatest impact for the audience was that the girl was only seven years old and died from the impact of a garbage collection barge against her sailboat.
