The White House released an official statement confirming the end of the Croatian's cycle, who also posted a heartfelt farewell on his social media

Officially, Luka Modric will no longer be a Real Madrid player after13 unforgettable seasons in which he won 28 titles. The Croatian midfielder and the white institution confirmed, in a consensual manner, what represents an early farewell to the merengue team.

"Real Madrid C. F. and our captain Luka Modrić have agreed to end an unforgettable chapter as a player of our club at the conclusion of the Club World Cup that our team will play starting June 18 in the United States", they announced.

The most decorated player in the club's history already has a farewell date. This Saturday he will play his last match at Santiago Bernabéu stadium against Real Sociedad. His last match as a Madridist, however, is not yet defined.

Florentino Pérez also expressed himself with emotional words to bid farewell to the idol: "Luka Modrić will remain forever in the hearts of all Madridists as a unique and exemplary footballer, who has always represented the values of Real Madrid. His football has won over Madridism and all fans around the world. His legacy will remain forever".

Modric's heartfelt message after confirming his departure

Through his Instagram account, the midfielder shared an extensive and emotional message addressed to the fans and the club.

"The time has come. The moment I never wanted to arrive, but that's football, and in life everything has a beginning and an end", he began writing.

"On Saturday I will play my last match at Santiago Bernabéu. I arrived in 2012 with the excitement of wearing the jersey of the best team in the world and with the ambition to do great things, but I couldn't imagine what came next. Playing at Real Madrid changed my life as a footballer and as a person", he continued.
