La Plata Refinery of YPF was recognized as "Refinery of the Year" at the latest edition of the Latin America Refining Technology Conference (LARTC), organized by the World Refining Association. This award honors the innovation, efficiency, and performance of one of the region's most significant energy complexes.

The industrial complex, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next December 23, has established itself as the largest refinery in the country and one of the most important in Latin America. Currently, La Plata produces 41% of the gasoline and 39% of the diesel consumed in Argentina.

Recognition for transformation

Horacio Marín, president and CEO of YPF, highlighted the effort made in recent years: "When I arrived at YPF, I committed to enhancing the value of La Plata refinery. In a year and a half, we've managed to position ourselves alongside the best in the world. This award confirms that path and fills me with pride for what we're building."

The refinery carried out a modernization and optimization process that significantly improved efficiency and profit margins. The consulting firm Solomon placed the complex in the first global quartile for net margin and in the second quartile for production cost, confirming its international competitiveness.

An energy engine for the country

The 400-hectare (988-acre) complex processes 210,000 barrels of crude oil per day, with 70% coming from Vaca Muerta. From there, it supplies fuel to more than 60% of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) and to different regions of the country.

This award reaffirms YPF's leadership in the refining industry and its commitment to Argentine energy development, while marking a milestone in the history of La Plata Refinery, which is about to celebrate its centenary.
