'Piece of shit coward': Doria Medina denied activist Peter Beckhauser's candidacy

The activist gained notoriety for the legal actions with which he stripped Evo Morales of his political party acronym

Activist Peter Erlwein Beckhauser was removed from the list of candidates of the Unidad alliance. He had been announced as a candidate for alternate deputy for Santa Cruz. His name began circulating in the media after achieving the cancellation of the legal status of Pan-Bol and FPV.

He also filed appeals against the Movimiento Tercer Sistema and alerted about irregularities in the 14 national parties. But it was precisely that activism that ended up marginalizing him from the alliance led by Samuel Doria Medina.

On Monday night, Beckhauser broke into tears during a television interview. "They took me off the list, they left me alone," he stated.

He added that he was betrayed by those who invited him to be a candidate. Then he launched harsh words against the leader of Unidad. "Cowardly bastard," he snapped live.

Beckhauser had gained notoriety for his role in dismantling acronyms allied to evismo. His complaints to the TSE led to the annulment of the legal status of FPV and Pan-Bol.

He also filed appeals against the MTS, which supports Andrónico Rodríguez. He claims to have identified grounds to disqualify the 14 national parties. "The democratic system could collapse," he warned.

The Unidad alliance justified its decision with a statement issued on Tuesday. It accused the activist of judicializing the electoral process.

It also said that he had attacked democratic parties. "He no longer deserves our trust," the document states. The text also reproached his behavior in front of the cameras.

In his defense, Beckhauser said that his actions were in defense of democracy. He recalled that he began his investigation motivated by personal disappointment. He revealed that his ex-partner was a TSE member and to annoy her, he started reviewing public documentation of the tribunal.

From that search, he extracted legal arguments that he later used against various acronyms. He mentioned that he found omissions in financial statements and leadership renewals.

In the case of MAS, he pointed out that there were 12 million bolivianos poorly accounted for. He held Evo Morales responsible for those failures. He also stated that MAS should be annulled.

The activist said that "blocking the left" was his motivation. He stated that MAS destroyed the country in two decades of power.

He said that his actions had a patriotic purpose. "They have left us on the brink of hyperinflation," he assured. He added that his fight is also against populism.

Beckhauser was nationalized Bolivian by his father, originally from Santa Cruz. He recounted that he arrived in the country at the age of three.

He considers himself a Cruceño and Bolivian at heart. He studied civil engineering and has lived 33 of his 36 years in Bolivia. "I am Bolivian, I am Cruceño," he repeated in an interview with No Mentirás.

Over the past few days, his figure has been gaining more notoriety. His appeals led to the suspension of Andrónico Rodríguez's registration as a candidate.

The fate of that candidacy is now in the hands of the Beni Departmental Court of Justice. The hearing will take place this Wednesday. The decision will be binding for the TSE.

Despite his contribution, the Unidad block accuses him of breaking the principle of not judicializing politics. According to the alliance, he even observed democratic parties.

That was the reason he was left out of the list of candidates. Beckhauser attributes it to internal pressures. He claims that Creemos failed to defend his candidacy.

In his defense, the activist mentioned Efraín Suárez as the one who invited him. Suárez is a spokesperson for Luis Fernando Camacho and a leader of Creemos.

He said that this force offered him initial support. But in the end, they also abandoned him. "I feel alone in this fight," he confessed.

Beckhauser did not hide his frustration on television. He called Doria Medina a "traitor" and accused him of cowardice.

He said that his complaints left him exposed. And that now he suffers the consequences of political power. He also warned that he could take reprisals.

Unidad, meanwhile, lamented the activist's "media show." It accused him of seeking prominence with tears on screen. It said that politics requires composure and seriousness.

It reiterated that the next government needs a suitable team. And it pointed out that Beckhauser did not meet that profile.

The decision of the Unidad block to exclude Peter Erlwein Beckhauser exposes a deep contradiction in those who define themselves as the true opposition to MAS.

While the activist managed to put several acronyms allied to the government in check through legal resources, he was removed for applying the same criteria to sectors that claim to represent the democratic alternative.

The argument of "not judicializing elections" reveals a double discourse, as legality only seems valid when it doesn't inconvenience party interests.

That attitude reflects an old political logic based on electoral calculations and convenience pacts, rather than solid democratic principles.
