Jorge Tuto Quiroga will register his political alliance without waiting for the decisions of the false unity bloc, as indicated by his spokesperson, Tomás Monasterio, this Tuesday. The decision implies disregarding negotiations with the pre-candidate Samuel Doria Medina, as Libre considers that there are no conditions to continue in a joint agreement. The deadline set by the TSE to register alliances is April 18.
Monasterio reported that the alliance will be made up of regional groups and will also include FRI and the Democrats as national parties. This formula will seek to compete in the presidential elections. The decision was made after several weeks of internal tensions, Libre considers that there are no longer guarantees of respect for commitments.
The rupture intensified with the controversy over the unity bloc's polls, Quiroga questioned the impartiality of these studies. He stated that the contracts were signed solely by Samuel Doria Medina and asked the Supreme Electoral Tribunal to intervene in the matter. In a letter, he requested that Doria Medina be required to provide the pollster contracts.
In the document, Quiroga disclaimed all responsibility for the polls and pointed out that they do not respect legality or internal agreements. According to Libre, the studies were promoted unilaterally. They claim that there was no oversight or consensus in their preparation, which is why they decided not to accept the results of those surveys.

The Libre alliance also questioned the authenticity of the signed agreement, denouncing that the document only bears Doria Medina's signature. The names of Quiroga and Carlos Mesa appear, but not their signatures, nor do other members of the bloc like Camacho or Cuéllar. For Monasterio, this demonstrates that there was no collective commitment and only pressure from Doria Medina.
Tensions within the bloc increased over the weekend, Doria Medina confirmed that the polls were already underway. The study's objective was to define a single candidate for the false opposition by April 10. Quiroga opposed that decision and denounced irregularities, stating that this process did not represent him.
In previous statements, Quiroga stated that he is not blackmailable and accused some actors in the bloc of acting unilaterally. “I do not accept impositions or pressures from anyone,” he stated. He also called for dialogue among political actors to resume, but clarified that he would not accept impositions disguised as unity.
Monasterio said that this decision doesn't break with the opposition and stated that Libre will continue to seek consensus, but within the law. “Unity can't be built by violating commitments,” he expressed. He warned that the bloc's mistakes could lead to disqualifications, now the priority will be to comply with the electoral calendar.

The spokesperson for Libre also stated that they can't wait any longer, saying that the current scenario forces them to make firm decisions, so the registration will be done within the stipulated deadlines. “We have to protect the candidacy that can defeat MAS,” he noted. According to Monasterio, his leader Tuto Quiroga remains a competitive option.
Quiroga assured that his priority remains the country and stated that his proposal seeks real solutions for the population. He said he is not in politics for empty negotiations and insisted that the country needs firm and transparent leadership. For this reason, he will continue his path independently.
Despite the tensions, Quiroga left the door open for dialogue and invited other members of the false bloc to return to consensus. However, he demanded that legality and transparency be respected. “Unity can't be based on tricks,” he stated.
He also called for the process to stop being contaminated with false accusations. The Libre alliance claims to have the necessary support to register. Monasterio stated that they are working with regional groups.
Additionally, they are holding conversations with social and territorial actors. “Our alliance represents a country project,” he declared. He added that they will continue to gain support in the coming days.
From the TSE, they reminded that the deadline is April 18, all political forces must officially register their alliances. After that date, no new fronts will be accepted, which is why Libre reiterated that they will comply with this requirement in a timely manner. According to Monasterio, they are ready to present themselves to the country.
With these actions, Tuto Quiroga distances himself from the false unity bloc, seeking to consolidate an alternative that responds to his own interests. With this decision, he leaves aside pre-agreements with figures like Samuel Doria Medina. His bet makes it clear that the members of the false unity bloc are motivated by petty interests.
