The proximity of the second electoral round in Ecuador highlights the differences between the Frente Unitario de Trabajadores (FUT) and the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie). Meanwhile, Conaie insists on seeking support for the Correaist left, FUT has distanced itself, avoiding falling into political pressures.
José Villavicencio, president of FUT, announced that his organization will not participate in the assembly convened by Conaie, in which an attempt will be made to consolidate a support block for Correaism.
Villavicencio emphasized that FUT doesn't share Conaie's stance and will remain on the sidelines of supporting any candidate in the second round.
Meanwhile, Leonidas Iza, president of Conaie, has openly expressed his rejection of the right, in clear reference to Daniel Noboa. Although Iza avoids openly supporting Luisa González, his statements show a leaning toward the Citizen Revolution.
