Ambassador Diana Salazar assumed diplomatic duties in Argentina

President Noboa strengthened Ecuador's representation abroad with this appointment

Ecuador's ambassador to Argentina, Diana Salazar, presented her credentials to that country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship. This protocolary act, held on May 26, 2025, marked her formal start as Ecuadorian diplomatic representative in Buenos Aires.

Salazar was received by Minister Lucía Viera, director of protocol at the Foreign Ministry, who expressed her willingness to strengthen bilateral relations. The Ecuadorian embassy highlighted the cordial atmosphere and the willingness to cooperate shown by Argentine authorities.

Salazar's appointment as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador was announced by President Daniel Noboa just hours after the National Assembly accepted her resignation as attorney general. This diplomatic move strengthens Ecuador's technical and strategic presence in the Southern Cone.

According to political analyst Pablo Romero, the ambassador's role will be key to promoting Ecuadorian interests in political, commercial, and cultural areas. In addition, she will have the responsibility of defending the rights of migrants and representing the country in the signing of bilateral agreements.

In public statements, Salazar thanked for the appointment and stated: “Public service is just that, a call from the country to serve in different areas, at different times.” She indicated that her transition also responds to family security reasons, since her husband resides in Argentina.

Diana Salazar's appointment adds to a series of decisions by President Noboa toposition technical profiles in key missions, strengthening Ecuador's institutional image in the international community. This diplomatic shift seeks to leave behind the clientelism and improvisation inherited from previous administrations.

Salazar's presence in Argentina represents an opportunity to strengthen cooperation ties and open new spaces for regional dialogue. In times of global instability, Ecuador is betting on technical and professional diplomacy as the driving force of foreign relations.

The government of Daniel Noboa continues to consolidate its international strategy with appointments that prioritize technical capacity and institutional trust. Diana Salazar's arrival in Argentina not only strengthens the bilateral relationship, but also symbolizes a new approach to Ecuadorian representation abroad.
