Daniel Salcedo appears and makes serious accusations before the Assembly

The businessman convicted of corruption promises to provide documents and names of the officials involved

Daniel Salcedo Bonilla, convicted of multiple crimes related to public corruption, appeared this Thursday, July 17, before the Oversight Commission of the National Assembly. In his statement, he offered a series of revelations that deepen the allegations about criminal networks within the healthcare system.

Salcedo, 36 years old, is serving sentences exceeding 30 years for crimes such as embezzlement, money laundering, and procedural fraud. In his testimony, he stated that he is willing to cooperate with the authorities and warned: "I'm going to take them all down", referring to officials still active in the criminal schemes.

The businessman recounted that he has been the victim of multiple attacks against him because of the information he possesses. He also indicated that the criminal groups that operated with him still remain within state structures.

Among the most significant revelations, Salcedo mentioned that the money used in an attack against him may have also financed the assassination of former presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio. This connection raises new lines of investigation for the Prosecutor's Office.

He stated that his involvement in these crimes dates back to his partnership with Xavier Jordán, linked to the Metástasis case. Since then, he claimed to have had direct knowledge of how corruption networks operate in different sectors.

Salcedo indicated that his appearance was voluntary and did not respond to external pressure. He is currently part of the Prosecutor's Office's Victims and Witnesses Program, which allows him to provide evidence without immediate reprisals.

He admitted without hesitation that he was an integral part of the crimes committed. "I've been part of everything, not only in healthcare, but also in other sectors", he acknowledged, marking a shift from his previous stance as an implicated party.

In his statement, he also lamented that implicated officials remain in their positions, which highlights the weakness of institutional filters and the urgent need for a thorough cleansing in public service.

Salcedo's appearance reveals the level of infiltration of criminal networks in the Ecuadorian state. If his statements are verified, they could implicate still-active figures and open a new chapter in the fight against structural corruption.
