The Supreme Court of Justice of Argentina approved the extradition of Hernán Luque Lecaro to Ecuador, as part of the process known as the Encuentro case, for the crime of alleged organized crime in public companies.

The ruling, issued on April 30, 2026, ratifies the first instance decision and dismisses the appeals filed by the defense, which alleged political persecution and lack of guarantees in Ecuador.

With this resolution, the process is now in the hands of Argentine President Javier Milei, who must decide whether to grant or deny extradition within a time limit established by law.

The investigation in Ecuador links him to an alleged structure that would have influenced institutions such as CNEL EP, BanEcuador

and the National Customs Service.

The Encuentro case investigates possible irregularities in the management of public companies and state contracts during his tenure as former president of the EMCO.

Hernán Luque was arrested in Argentina in February 2024 and since then he has been under an extradition process requested by the Ecuadorian justice system.
