The government extended the deadline to liquidate the Public Media Company.
Daniel Noboa granted an additional 30 days to complete the transfer to the Ministry of ICT
President Daniel Noboa extended the deadline to complete the liquidation of the Public Company of Public Media Comunica EP until July 12, 2025. The measure seeks to ensure an adequate and orderly transfer of assets and liabilities to the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society.
Through Executive Decree 31, signed on June 14, the extension of the process that began in 2020 under Lenín Moreno's government was made official. This decision reaffirms the current government's commitment to transparent and responsible management of state resources.
The public company in liquidation includes media such as Ecuador TV, El Telégrafo digital, and Radio Pública FM. The decree stipulates that all records associated with the company must be closed, including the RUC, RUP, employer number, and public accounts.

The technical report supporting the extension was submitted by the liquidator in April, arguing the need for more time to complete administrative and legal aspects. The Ministry of ICT must facilitate the transfer of assets, rights, and obligations, including litigation, through a public deed.
With this extension, the Executive guarantees that the process will not remain unfinished or cause harm to the State. The definitive elimination of records will be the final step to close a chapter that began five years ago and was marked by inherited delays.
President Noboa's decision to extend the deadline to liquidate Comunica EP demonstrates political will to close postponed processes and pave the way for a more efficient and modern institutional framework. This progress allows for the consolidation of the reorganization of the state apparatus without improvisation.
