Noboa replied to those who asked him to leave Cotopaxi amid the national strike: 'We won't give in by even a millimeter.'

On September 22, 2025, President Daniel Noboa attended an event in Latacunga to deliver loans to the tourism sector. The event coincided with the start of the national strike called by Conaie in protest against the elimination of the diesel subsidy.

In his speech, Noboa firmly warned that he will not leave the city nor back down in the face of pressure. Dressed in a military-style jacket, he stated: "We are not going to give in even a millimeter, nor am I going to leave here."

The response was directed at the groups that demanded the president leave Cotopaxi. Noboa emphasized that his government is not afraid of the streets or threats, because it has legitimacy and citizen support.

Meanwhile, while the Executive showed strength in Latacunga, a counter-march was led by Minister Zaida Rovira. The ruling party first took to the streets in the city center as a show of support for the presidential decision.

At the same time, the Indigenous and Peasant Movement of Cotopaxi (MICC) began a march from the La Estación area. The protesters claimed that the strong military presence blocked their way to the Cotopaxi Governor's Office.

Tension increased when the protesters managed to advance to the Héroes del Cenepa area. There, they held an assembly to define new actions within the framework of the national strike called by Conaie.

In his remarks, Noboa insisted that the demonstrations seek to destabilize the country. He stated that his administration works for the people, while others try to keep Ecuador "anchored in the past."

In conclusion, the president's stay in Latacunga symbolized a direct challenge to attempts at social pressure. Noboa showed determination and reaffirmed that he will not withdraw, reinforcing his image as a leader determined to uphold order and governability.
