In a decisive turn in the conflict in the Middle East, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed on Tuesday a bilateral truce with Iran for two weeks, after the Iranian regime yielded to pressure from Washington and accepted its conditions. The central point of the agreement was the complete, immediate and secure opening of the Strait of Hormuz, a demand that Tehran had

rejected until the last moment.

The announcement marks a clear change in the dynamics of the conflict: after days of threats, military escalation and direct warnings from Trump, Iran ended up giving in to pressure from American superiority. The reopening of the strait — through which about a quarter of the world's oil circulates — was a red line for the United States, which had set a concrete ultimatum with a definite deadline

Hours before the agreement, tension had reached extreme levels. Trump went so far as to warn that an entire civilization could disappear if Iran did not meet the demands.

At the same time, the Iranian regime had tightened its stance, even cutting off communication channels and resorting to desperate actions, such as the use of civilians as human shields in strategic areas, a practice considered a war crime.

However, the scenario changed abruptly. According to Trump himself, after talks with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, and the military leader Asim Munir, Iran presented a 10-point proposal that was considered a viable basis for moving towards a definitive agreement. Within this framework, the United States decided to suspend the attacks for two weeks.

The US president was clear in pointing out that the two military objectives have already been achieved and that negotiations are well advanced. In fact, the truce represents a strategic victory for Washington, which managed to force concrete concessions without prolonging

the conflict.

The opening of the Strait of Hormuz not only decompresses the military situation, but also reduces the risk of a global impact on energy prices. Over the past few days, fear of a blockade had created uncertainty in international markets.

Now, the focus is on whether this temporary agreement becomes a definitive solution. For now, the political fact is convincing: after an attempt at resistance that lasted very little, the defeated Iranian regime ended up accepting the conditions imposed by the United States and opened the door to a peace

negotiation.
