The president Donald Trump and other U.S. officials denied on Saturday the announcement made by the Iranian regime that the Strait of Hormuz would be closed again. "There will be NO TOLL in the Strait of Hormuz during the 60 days of the ceasefire period, and there will be NO TOLL after the 60-day period has expired," the president stated in a statement.
This morning, the Islamic regime announced that it would close the strait again following the recent fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran unfoundedly claims that Israel's refusal to withdraw its troops from Lebanon violates the memorandum of understanding agreed upon last week.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) also refuted the Iranian dictatorship stating in a release that "commercial shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz increased on June 20 as U.S. forces continued operating in the general area to support freedom of navigation." Vice President JD Vance, for his part, added that 16 million barrels left Hormuz in recent hours.
In turn, CENTCOM spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins stated in a release that "Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz" and that "traffic continues to flow and U.S. forces are monitoring the situation to ensure it remains so."
