The President of the United States, Donald Trump, dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi this Thursday, in a decision that marks the second major restructuring of his cabinet during his second term and which seeks to strengthen the functioning of the Department of Justice (DOJ) at a key stage of his administration.

In his replacement, the president appointed as acting attorney general the hitherto assistant attorney general, Todd Blanche.

The announcement was made by Trump through his Truth Social network, where he praised Bondi's work and confirmed that the now former official will move to the private sector in a new role that will be announced soon. The president emphasized the importance of an orderly transition and emphasized Blanche's ability to assume leadership of the DOJ immediately

.

Bondi's departure came after a day in which he had accompanied the president on official activities, including his attendance at the Supreme Court and his presence at a key speech on the war with Iran. According to close sources, the then attorney general was in good spirits during the day, indicating that the decision was taken as part of a larger strategic reorganization within the cabinet

In a statement, Bondi said she will work over the next few weeks to facilitate a smooth transition to Blanche's leadership. He also defended his administration at the head of the Department of Justice, describing it as one of the most important periods in the organization's recent history

.

Among the outstanding achievements, he mentioned the reduction of the homicide rate to historically low levels, advances in the fight against domestic terrorism and the dismantling of criminal networks, both national and international.

The former attorney general also highlighted the arrest of key figures linked to cartels and a series of legal victories before the Supreme Court, which consolidated several initiatives promoted by the Trump administration. These results, he said, reflect the government's commitment to public safety and strengthening the rule of law.

For his part, Todd Blanche thanked the president for his trust and praised the work of his predecessor. In his first statement as acting attorney general, he reaffirmed his commitment to continue with government security policies, including supporting law enforcement and strict law enforcement

.

Blanche is no stranger to the president's immediate environment. Before taking office at the Department of Justice, he served as Trump's defense attorney in high-profile court cases, which has strengthened his relationship with the president. In addition, within the DOJ, he was considered the main person responsible for daily operations, which guarantees continuity in management despite the change in leadership

.

Trump's decision comes in a context in which the president had expressed his interest in accelerating the progress of certain judicial processes and strengthening the Department of Justice's action in cases of high political and criminal impact. In this sense, Blanche's appointment is interpreted as an attempt to give greater dynamism and effectiveness

to the institution.

During his tenure, Bondi also faced significant challenges, including managing information related to the case of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. The release of documents related to the case generated tensions both politically and media, although the Department of Justice maintained its position on the limits of the information that

could be made public.

Despite these controversies, the administration believes that Bondi's management balance was positive and that his departure responds to the need to adjust the government team according to current challenges. The transition to Blanche, in this sense, is presented as a continuity with a renewed focus on the execution of the president's policies

.

At the same time, versions have emerged about possible candidates to occupy the permanent position of attorney general, including the current administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, Lee Zeldin. However, so far no definitive designation has been confirmed
