At the time, Taif Sami Mohammed had been praised and awarded by Secretary of State Antony Blinken under the Biden administration for her alleged fight against corruption in Iraq. Her background indicates that she has been working in the Iraqi government for over 36 years and has served as Deputy Minister of Finance and head of the State Budget Department since 2019.
Blinken stated then: "Taif Sami Mohammed, Deputy Minister of Finance of Iraq and Director General of the Budget Department, has earned the nickname 'Iron Woman' due to her constant efforts to end corruption."

This week, after including her on the anti-terrorism watchlist, the Trump administrationdetermined that Mohammed will no longer be able to enter the United States, accusing her of being "a key facilitator of terrorism financing in Iraq" and a collaborator of the Iranian regime.
"While the Biden administration shamefully celebrated and awarded foreigners who threaten our nation, the Trump State Department revokes their visas and ensures that these individuals are expelled from our country," stated Global Public Affairs Undersecretary Dylan Johnson to Fox News.
"In 2022, Blinken and Jill Biden celebrated Iraqi citizen Taif Sami Mohammed Al Shakarchi, personally presenting her with an award for promoting 'gender equity.' Since then, Ms. Mohammed has been added to the FBI's anti-terrorism watchlist. As a result, the State Department under the Trump administration took swift action to revoke her visa and ensure she is no longer in the United States. Under the leadership of the President and Secretary Rubio, we will never allow alleged terrorists to reside in our country," he added.
