The jury in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, the mother who strangled her three young children and became an icon of the feminist movement, entered a recess for the fourth consecutive day after failing to reach a verdict and informing the judge through a written note that they did not see a possibility of reaching a unanimous decision.
"Members of the jury. I understand that you have requested to be excused until tomorrow at 9 o'clock", commented the judge in the case, William F. Sullivan. "So I will excuse you until then. I just want to thank you for all your hard work and commitment so far in this case," added the magistrate, who also reminded the jury not to read material about the case or discuss it during their time outside the courtroom.
