The corrupt governor of California, Gavin Newsom, announced this Monday through a statement on his social media that both he and his wife are under federal investigation. Although the scope of the inquiry is still unclear, he stated that federal agents have already contacted people and organizations close to him and his spouse, Jennifer Newsom.
The Democratic politician declared that several members of his inner circle have been subpoenaed to present records and documents. It is worth remembering that Newsom's former chief of staff, Dana Williamson, was already indicted last year for electronic fraud in federal court.
According to the media Semafor, the investigations affect both Newsom and his wife as well as members of his government team. However, this inquiry is not being conducted by Trump's Department of Justice, but originated in the courts of Sacramento and involves protected witnesses.

The governor's statement
"Today, my wife and I join the list of targets of Donald Trump. He has ordered his Department of Justice to investigate us. They have found no crime; they are simply trying to invent one", Newsom declared in a video posted on X, falsely claiming that this investigation is a political persecution against him.
"He is not coming after me for some offensive tweets, but because I am considering running for president. He hates that I constantly expose him. He is, plain and simple, the most corrupt president in the history of the United States. We have nothing to hide. Mr. President, come after me. I am not going anywhere. The country is watching", the ultra-democrat concluded.
While Newsom is considered one of the leading figures of the Democratic Party and some in the opposing circle project him as a presidential candidate, it is not even clear that he has enough internal support to secure the nomination and face the Republican candidate, especially given that his tenure as governor of California has been very deficient.
