The vice president JD Vance stated that nuclear inspectors will return to Iran as part of the agreement negotiated by President Donald Trump aimed at ending the months-long war, according to ABC News on Monday night.
Trump's running mate noted that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), along with the United States, will help oversee the destruction of Iran's highly enriched uranium stocks under the framework of the emerging agreement.
"In fact, one of the key parts of the agreement is that the IAEA and the United States will help Iran destroy the highly enriched stocks, and that is something that is detailed very clearly," said the Ohio politician.
The United Nations nuclear watchdog, which operates under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and is responsible for verifying that civil nuclear programs do not deviate towards weapon development, has been seeking broad access to Iranian nuclear sites for years. Under the agreement reached by Barack Obama in 2015, regime officials granted limited monitoring and inspections to the agency.
