The Chicago police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy who was found unconscious inside a home. Officers entered the property when the mother, the main suspect in the crime, was attempting to harm herself, in a case that could be a copycat of Lindsay Clancy's, the figure of feminists who is currently on trial in Massachusetts.
The alleged murderer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the child, despite undergoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), did not survive his injuries and died within minutes. The Justice Department is investigating the incident as a "domestic homicide" and the autopsy determined that the child died due to an "apparent homicide," according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
"It is absolutely devastating that this could be another Lindsay Clancy-style situation, in our neighborhood, in our community. One never thinks it will hit so close to home," a shocked neighbor told local media.
Clancy also killed her three young children and then attempted to take her own life by jumping from a second-floor balcony, an act that left her paralyzed from the waist down. A jury, which has already informed the presiding judge twice that they are unable to reach a unanimous verdict, is currently deliberating on the fate of the accused.
The defense argues that Clancy suffered from a postpartum mental illness, while the prosecution maintains that the murders were premeditated and that she should be sentenced to life in prison. Clancy's case has divided national public opinion and has attracted feminists who sympathize with the filicide and are marching across the country, many of them wearing pink clothing.
