Tense moments were experienced this afternoon in the trial of Lindsay Clancy after it was revealed that there are eleven jurors who want to free the confessed murderer and a single member who opposes impunity and is blocking the acquittal verdict.
A few hours ago, the president of the jury sent a note to the case judge, William Sullivan, indicating that there is only one dissenting member who "refuses to listen" to what the law states about reasonable doubt. In response, Clancy's lawyer, Kevin Reddington, demanded that this person be removed from the twelve-member panel and replaced by an alternate, a motion that the judge rightly rejected.
"I do not consider it prudent to side with one or the other in the deliberations. I do not think it is appropriate to say that I agree with one juror or the other eleven", explained Sullivan, who then ordered the jury to return to discuss the case privately. Shortly after, Reddington told reporters outside the courthouse that he believes the situation of that patriot, who opposes Clancy's impunity, will be debated in a public hearing tomorrow.
