The President of the United States, Donald Trump, spoke out about the controversy generated after Spain's celebrations for the World Cup and the use of a cap with the slogan “Make Spain Great Again” by the footballer Ferran Torres.

The question was posed by journalist and director of La Derecha Diario, Javier Negre, who also introduced the topic of the hate campaign against Argentina.

During the exchange, Negre raised: “Ferran wore a 'Make Spain Great Again' cap and the communists are attacking him for that. They are also attacking the Argentine players because of Milei. What do you think about that?”.

The question arose in a context of strong repercussions on social media, where the gesture of the Spanish player sparked debate.

In response, Trump replied with a message of support for the forward: “Well, he is a great player, and he was essentially wearing a 'Make America Great Again' cap. It was a nice tribute. He did it with good intentions and we appreciate it.”

In this way, the U.S. President highlighted the symbolic nature of the gesture and celebrated it as a positive reference to his political slogan.

The statements come after some criticism on social media from the left-wing sectors, who questioned Torres' gesture.

On the other hand, Trump also took the opportunity to refer to the internal situation in the United States and defend his administration.

“And we have made America great. Now we have the best country in the world. A year and a half ago this country was in serious trouble. We had borders that were a disaster, men competing in women's sports. They were laughing at us all over the world,” he stated.
