The U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, announced on Wednesday the arrest of an intelligence agent from the Cuban communist regime who was residing in the country. The individual, along with his wife and son, remains in federal custody awaiting the conclusion of the legal process for their subsequent deportation.
The Cuban citizen was identified as Carlos Antonio Lloga Domínguez, who worked for more than a decade as a "foreign subversive" for the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), identified as the main front group for intelligence and influence used by the Castro regime on U.S. soil.
While Lloga Domínguez and his family await expulsion from the country, Rubio warned that the Trump administration will cancel the legal status, sanction, and then expel from the country any individual who maintains ties with this organization.
Rubio will not allow officials of the communist regime to continue operating in the U.S.
The official statement from the State Department
"Lloga Domínguez worked for more than a decade for the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and has continued to maintain ties with the transnational communist subversion network during his residency in our nation. The ICAP, which Secretary Rubio designated for sanctions under Executive Order 14404 earlier this month, is the central node of an extensive Cuban intelligence and influence operation that claims to encompass over 2,000 organizations in more than 150 countries."
"The organization has a long and close relationship with Cuban intelligence agents; in fact, the current president of the ICAP, Fernando González Llort, is a convicted Cuban spy who served 15 years in a U.S. prison for his role in the infamous Wasp Network, a massive illegal espionage ring uncovered in Florida in the late 1990s."
"Under the Trump Administration, the United States will never become a home for thugs of the Cuban communist regime who spread propaganda, conduct foreign influence operations, or seek to undertake a revolution against American civilization. (...) Any foreign citizen involved in the anti-American subversion operations of the ICAP should expect to find themselves soon on an ICE deportation flight."
