Following the executive order issued by President Donald Trump, the Pentagon published this Friday the third batch of declassified files on UFOs, which show that the United States government investigated sightings reported worldwide.
The most recent batch consists of 29 reports from the FBI, 18 from the CIA, 12 from the Department of Defense, 11 from NASA, one from the intelligence community, and one document from an unspecified government agency. The documents discuss a sighting of a supposed UFO in July 2008 at Harare International Airport in Zimbabwe, where witnesses debated whether the object came from a foreign government or was of extraterrestrial origin.
"The individuals debated whether the sighting was an advanced reconnaissance device from a foreign government or of extraterrestrial origin", states the document detailing the incident. "At one point during the observation, 'beams' were seen emanating from the object," it continues.
Another file, dating from 1946 and originating from the Department of Defense, is titled "Assessment Study of the Phenomenon (Flying Saucers)" and details that, "of about 210 incidents, 20 percent have been explained." The text concludes that "there is no tangible evidence to support the theory that any of the incidents can be attributed to the activity of a foreign nation".
