The President of the United States, Donald Trump, clarified this Friday that the comments leaked by the Iranian regime regarding the principle of the bilateral agreement reached do not represent what the parties have agreed upon in writing.
"What they said, including their weak and pathetic statement about having an agreement, has no relation to the truth. Very dishonest people to deal with. With them, there is no such thing as negotiating in good faith. UNBELIEVABLE!" the president wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. "They better get their act together, and FAST!" Trump added.
The terms of the agreement described on Friday by officials of the Islamic regime seem to offer Tehran the concessions it has been demanding since the fragile ceasefire began last April. A high-ranking Iranian source told Reuters on Friday that the draft would exempt Iran's oil from sanctions, unfreeze billions of dollars of its funds, and require a cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Trump's statements contradict the Iranian claims. In the principle of the agreement, Washington ensures that Iran will never develop a nuclear weapon, while the exemption from sanctions, the unfreezing of assets, and the cessation of Israeli attacks in Lebanon are concessions that will come gradually and only if the regime fulfills its obligations.
Trump's demands on Iran remain the same: that the regime abandon its nuclear program, that it surrender its stockpile of enriched uranium, that it stop funding terrorist groups in the region, and that it reopen the Strait of Hormuz without charging any fees or tolls to ships passing through that maritime passage. The president has reiterated that he will not sign any document that does not contain these obligations.
"We expect the agreement to be signed in the coming days. We estimate that it has an 85 percent probability, not yet 100 percent. We feel very good about the agreement. We are not at the finish line, but we are very close to it," a U.S. official expressed optimism to Axios this morning.
