Following the orders of President Donald Trump, the United States military bombed the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in retaliation for the death of American troops in Jordan.

The U.S. has been attacking bridges, electrical facilities, and infrastructure used by the Iranian regime's troops, while Tehran has struck power and desalination plants in Kuwait, threatening the lives of the inhabitants of that small nation. The ayatollahs' dictatorship has also threatened to expand its attacks throughout the region.

The U.S. Central Command stated in a statement that it attacked "Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites". It also confirmed for the first time that it bombed positions of the Revolutionary Guard, the Iranian theocracy's paramilitary group that controls an arsenal of ballistic missiles.

The images released by Washington show bombs and Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from the sea impacting against the valley of a mountainous region. The Guard typically has missile bases and other military equipment hidden in mountain ranges.

Trump reacts to the attack

On Saturday, the U.S. military reported that an Iranian attack on a base in Jordan killed two of its members, left one missing, and required the hospitalization of four others. Since the war began to prevent Tehran from making a nuclear weapon, 16 U.S. service members have died and more than 430 have been injured.

Trump has threatened to attack Iran's power plants and bridges in an attempt to force the regime to ease its attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, a plan that is already being implemented. Meanwhile, Washington is blocking Iranian ports to stop oil shipments and thus suffocate the regime's economy.

When asked about this attack in Jordan, Trump described the deaths of the soldiers as "a shame" and emphasized that the mission remains crucial: "They did it because they don't want Iran to have a nuclear weapon (...) that just shows how bad they are [the Iranians]."

When the Republican was asked if he planned to contact the families of the fallen in service, he responded without hesitation: "Of course I will. I always do. Yes".
