The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on Monday a five-day pause in attacks on Iran's energy infrastructure, after what he described as “very good and productive” talks between the two countries to try to end the armed conflict that has been going on for three weeks.

In addition, he reiterated that Iran did not start the conflict and that any de-escalation initiative must be directed to
the United States. The announcement had an immediate impact on international markets.
