The President of the United States, Donald Trump, once again threatened Iran's terrorist regime this Sunday and reiterated his ultimatum for the immediate reopening ofthe Strait of Hormuz, one of the most strategic maritime routes in the world.
In the midst of the ongoing military offensive, the US president warned that, if Tehran does not comply with the demand, “the destruction will be total”.
On Saturday, Trump had publicly demanded that the Iranian regime re-establish unrestricted transit through the strait, warning that, otherwise, he would order attacks aimed at electrical infrastructure.

with Israeli television Channel 13, the president said: “Soon you will see what happens with the ultimatum of power plants. The result will be very good (...). The destruction of Iran is going to be total and it's going to work great.” Along the same lines, he added: “Iran has been very bad for 47 years and now it is receiving its just punishment.”
In addition, Trump questioned the role of Western allies in the face of the crisis. In particular, he criticized NATO's lack of involvement in possible operations in the region. “NATO countries are not doing anything. It's a huge shame,” he said.
Tension in the strait has intensified since the start of the military offensive on February 28, 2026. Currently, only five percent of normal maritime traffic is still operational, which has had a strong impact on international markets. From the Iranian side, the military commander responded that, if Washington carries out attacks on its infrastructure, they will proceed to completely close the Strait of Hormuz until the
damaged facilities are rebuilt.
In parallel, more than twenty countries, mostly European together with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, issued a joint statement in which they expressed their commitment to traffic safety in the strait.

In the document, they condemned Iranian attacks on vessels and civilian structures, and expressed their willingness to collaborate in international initiatives
that guarantee free movement.
For its part, the United States Central Command reported that strategic facilities and Iranian logistical support points have already been destroyed, reducing the threat in the area.
