Donald Trump and an ultimatum to Hamas: 'This is my final warning'

The President of the United States said that Israel has accepted new terms to release the hostages and that there will be no other offer

United States President Donald Trump announced that Israel has accepted a new proposal backed by Washington to secure the release of the 48 hostages who remain in Hamas's hands in the Gaza Strip.

In a message shared on his social network Truth Social, Trump directly warned the terrorist group that it must accept the agreement or face severe consequences. "This is my last warning. There won't be another one," he wrote.

The proposal was conveyed to Hamas in recent days through mediators Gershon Baskin and Bishara Bahbah. The plan includes a comprehensive framework that seeks not only to free the captives but also to open the door to a ceasefire supervised by Washington.

The scheme establishes that Hamas must hand over all the hostages—including the bodies of those who were killed—from the first day of implementation. In exchange, Trump would offer a personal guarantee that hostilities won't resume while negotiations last.

The agreement also proposes the release of between 2,000 and 3,000 Palestinian security prisoners, some convicted of violent crimes, as well as the cancellation of the planned Israeli military operation in Gaza City.

However, the plan stipulates that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) would maintain a limited presence in certain strategic areas, ensuring that Hamas can't regroup or regain military control.

Hamas spokespersons told Sky News Arabia that they are evaluating the proposal with a "positive spirit," although sources close to the negotiations consider it unlikely that the group will agree to hand over all the hostages without retaining any kind of leverage. "They would lose their last card on the table," an analyst noted.

Meanwhile, the Hostage Families Forum described the initiative as a "historic breakthrough" and emphasized that a personal guarantee from the President of the United States is unprecedented.

In a statement, they called on the Israeli government to fully support the plan, which would allow both the living and deceased captives to be brought home and provide closure to nearly two years of war.

Although Hamas's final acceptance still appears uncertain, Trump's announcement represents unprecedented pressure on the terrorist group and a renewed international push to achieve what Israel and its citizens have demanded since October 7: the immediate release of all hostages.
