Hamas releases a video of an emaciated hostage forced to dig his own grave

This is the second video of a kidnapped person in extreme conditions that Islamic radicals have published in a week

The terrorist organization Hamas released a propaganda video showing Israeli hostage Evyatar David in extreme physical condition.

He is seen jerseyless and visibly emaciated, marking the days on an improvised calendar hanging on the wall of a subterranean tunnel in Gaza.

In another segment, he is shown with a shovel, and Evyatar himself says that he is being forced to dig his own grave.

The David family authorized the public release of the video shortly after it came to light.

In the recording, which was edited for propaganda purposes, images of David, clearly malnourished, are interspersed with clips of Palestinian children who are also hungry, thus attempting to suggest an equivalence between his suffering and that of Gaza's population.

At the end of the video, a black screen displays the message: "They eat what we eat. They drink what we drink."

The audiovisual material, distributed through Hamas's Telegram channel, is the second in 24 hours in which Gaza terrorist groups display Israeli hostages.

On Thursday, Palestinian Islamic Jihad released a video of hostage Rom Braslavski.

The families' response was swift.

Yaela David, Evyatar's sister, reacted on Instagram with a moving message: "Anyone who has seen the video now knows the gravity of the situation and Evyatar's physical condition. It was like receiving a thousand stabs to the heart."

She initially asked that images from the video not be shared, but later reconsidered: "After a night of crying for my brother, who has become a walking skeleton in Gaza's cruel dungeons, I understood that the whole world must see this. Hamas is not ISIS: it's much worse."

Yaela directly accused the terrorist group of using both the hostages and Gaza's civilian population as propaganda tools: "Hamas is starving the hostages and the Gazans themselves, preventing them from receiving the humanitarian aid that Israel and the world are sending."

Evyatar David was kidnapped on October 7, 2023 at the Nova music festival in Re'im, southern Israel, when he was just 22 years old. According to testimonies, he decided to stay with his friend Guy Gilboa-Dalal to help evacuate the wounded, instead of fleeing.

Since then, nothing had been known about his whereabouts.
