Israel will ban entry to the country for the Spanish anti-Semitic politician Yolanda Díaz

Minister Sira Rego will also not be allowed to enter due to Spain's anti-Israeli positions

The Government of Israel announced the entry ban into the country for the Second Vice President of the Spanish Executive and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, as well as for the Minister of Youth and Children, Sira Rego.

The decision, communicated by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, comes in response to the recent measures adopted by President Pedro Sánchez against the State of Israel.

Sa’ar indicated that Díaz, leader of the far-left party Sumar, has dragged the Spanish Government toward an "openly anti-Israeli and antisemitic agenda", taking advantage of Sánchez's political weakness.

In a statement, he accused the Spanish government of practicing "institutionalized antisemitism" and announced that a policy of no contact will be applied with both ministers, whom he held responsible for hostile statements and actions against Israel.

The Israeli Foreign Minister recalled that Yolanda Díaz went so far as to label Israel as a "genocidal state" and celebrated the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state as "only the first step toward liberation from the river to the sea", a slogan used by extremist groups seeking the disappearance of Israel.

Regarding Sira Rego, Sa’ar highlighted her demand to break the European Union's ties with Israel, her support for sanctions at all levels, and her backing of violent demonstrations against Israeli athletes in the International Cycling Tour.

"Spain under Sánchez keeps a hostile line, with rhetoric full of hatred against Israel", warned Sa’ar, who stated that he made the decision with the consent of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He also announced that he will bring before the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) the statements of members of the Spanish government so that they may be evaluated as possible manifestations of antisemitism.

Israel's measures come after Sánchez's announcement of new restrictions against the Jewish state, including the consolidation of the arms embargo, the entry ban to Spain for Israeli officials, the denial of airspace to aircraft carrying defense material destined for Israel, and the veto on the transit of ships with fuel for the Israel Defense Forces.

The import of products from settlements in Judea and Samaria will also be banned, a measure that Israel considers part of a political campaign that ignores the complexity of the conflict and fuels the narrative of its enemies.

Sa’ar concluded that new diplomatic responses will be evaluated to what he described as an "attempt by Sánchez's government to cover up its internal corruption scandals through anti-Israeli attacks".
