Netanyahu convenes the Security Cabinet and there are rumors of a full-scale advance on Gaza
The PM insisted on three objectives: defeating Hamas, freeing the hostages, and preventing Gaza from being a threat
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he will convene the Security Cabinet this week to define concrete instructions for the army in order to achieve the three essential objectives of the war: defeat Hamas, free the hostages, and ensure that Gaza never again poses a threat to Israel.
"We must remain united, firm, and combative to achieve all the objectives of this war. All of them: defeat the enemy, bring our hostages back, and ensure that Gaza doesn't threaten Israel again," Netanyahu declared in a resolute tone.
The leader evoked the spirit of national unity by referencing Tisha B'Av, the date on the Hebrew calendar that commemorates the destruction of the two Temples in Jerusalem and other national disasters.
"Since then, we have been divided and at odds with each other. Today, just after Tisha B'Av, we are immersed in an intense war, in which we have achieved historic progress precisely because we have been united, shoulder to shoulder", he emphasized.

In addition to the military front, Netanyahu presented an ambitious reconstruction and development agenda for the south of the country, an area especially affected by the attacks of October 7 and the subsequent months of conflict.
The plan includes an investment of 3.2 billion shekels (about 938 million dollars), aimed at boosting the economy and strengthening infrastructure in cities and regional councils such as Ashkelon, Ofakim, Netivot, Eshkol, Sha'ar HaNegev, and Sdot Negev.
As part of this effort, new industrial parks, research and development centers, and the construction of Israel's first Paralympic Village are planned.
Netanyahu also highlighted the country's energy potential, referencing his recent visit to the Eilat-Ashkelon Pipeline Company plant. There, he stated that Israel is on track to become a key energy hub connecting the resources of Asia, the Middle East, and the Arabian Peninsula.
Gas revenues in the next decade are expected to reach 300 billion shekels.
Netanyahu's message was clear: while Israel continues to face the military challenge with determination, it is also looking toward the day after, betting on the rebirth of the south as a symbol of national resilience.
