Netanyahu destroyed Mamdani, the woke Islamist candidate for mayor of NY.
Israel's PM called him 'antisemitic' and asserted that his economic proposals are disastrous
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an unusual intervention in the race for the New York mayoralty. In an interview with influencers Nelk Boys, Netanyahu strongly criticized the leftist anti-Israel candidate Zohran Mamdani, whom he described as "antisemitic" and "dangerous for the economy".
The interview, published on the Full Send podcast, covered topics such as the war against Hamas in Gaza, antisemitism in the United States, and the prime minister's close relationship with Donald Trump.
However, it was the moment when the hosts —Kyle Forgeard and Aaron Steinberg, grandson of Holocaust survivors— asked him about the New York electoral race that Netanyahu made his most incendiary statements.
"How is it possible that an openly antisemitic guy wins a Democratic primary in New York?" Steinberg asked. Netanyahu replied that "many have been deceived by this nonsense," referring to Mamdani's support for slogans like "globalize the intifada" and the boycott against Israel.
"His plan to raise taxes will destroy all initiative. Sometimes you need reality to hit you in the face to understand how stupid that is", he added, referring to the candidate's proposal to tax the wealthiest New Yorkers.

Mamdani, of Ugandan origin and currently a state legislator, has declared that Israel is committing "genocide" in Gaza. He also stated that, if he were to become mayor, he would order Netanyahu's arrest if he set foot in the city.
The statements further fueled the polarization of the electorate. Meanwhile, as Mamdani leads the polls in the Democratic primary, two heavyweights of local politics, current mayor Eric Adams and former governor Andrew Cuomo, are running as independents, seeking to capture the Jewish vote —which represents approximately 13% of the city's electorate— with pro-Israel messages.
The campaign for the New York mayoralty has unexpectedly turned into an international battleground where Middle Eastern tensions mix with the internal struggles of American politics.
