Romi Gonen, survivor of the hell in Gaza, has been discharged
The young woman, who was kidnapped on October 7 and held hostage for 47 days, was hospitalized for 5 months after her captivity
Romi Gonen, who was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists on October 7 and released after 471 days in captivity, was discharged from Sheba Medical Center on Thursday.
Gonen underwent two surgeries due to injuries and lack of medical care during her time in Hamas's hands. In total, she was hospitalized for 5 months.
On her last day in the hospital, she thanked the staff for the care she received.
In a post on her Instagram account, Gonen wrote: "I've been discharged!... I've been in Israel for almost half a year, and I spent almost five months of that time in the hospital. Today I'm being discharged and taking another step toward my freedom."
"I was brutally kidnapped on October 7 to the Gaza Strip. On July 10, I'm being discharged from the hospital after a truly difficult period. Pain, surgeries, getting up and falling again and again," she recounted.
Gonen especially thanked the medical team who accompanied her throughout the process: "I want to thank some important people at Sheba Medical Center who accompanied me all the way, and thanks to them I'm where I am today."
Finally, she addressed a message to the hostages who remain in Hamas's custody: "You're still not here, and my heart is with you there in Gaza... I pray that we will once again be a united and whole people. A people of love and joy, of concern and care. We only have each other."
