CDMX will impose license plates and registration cards on electric bicycles
Cyclists must now meet the same requirements as motorcyclists
Those bicycles that exceed the speed of 25 kilometers per hour will be considered electric motorcycles in CDMX.
The Head of Government, Brugada, announced the new measures with which they intend to "guarantee road safety, as well as regulate traffic and protect the environment."

New Restrictions
As now electric bicycles with a speed greater than 25 km/h will be considered electric motorcycles, they will have new regulations.
Drivers of these vehicles must adhere to these guidelines.
She stated that, in this case:
- They can't circulate on bike paths, bike lanes, or confined lanes
- They can't move on sidewalks or any other confined area

Additionally:
- They must carry a license plate
- Registration card
- Helmet
- Ride with lights on
They must also adhere to the general traffic rules for vehicles; the same as a combustion car or motorcycle.
As well as the other rules that apply to internal combustion motorcycles.

All these new measures infringe on the free movement of Chilangos and affect their wallets.
Since simply the cost to obtain a motorcycle license plate is $682 MXN, when the arguments given to classify them as such are ridiculous.
The worst part is that you'll be a victim of useless programs like “hoy no circula,”since you'll be subject to the general traffic rules like a combustion motorcycle.

Therefore in the famous environmental contingencies you won't be able to circulate freely because even though you don't pollute, now you're subject to these guidelines like a combustion motorcycle.
Skates and Scooters
In the case of skates and scooters, Brugada indicated that they are considered non-motorized vehicles and must comply with regulations already in place for them.
“Non-motorized vehicles can't circulate on sidewalks or pedestrian areas, nor on the exclusive public transport lane, and they must not enter areas reserved for pedestrian traffic,” she asserted.

Another example that this government doesn't care about the freedom of mobility or the well-being of Chilangos, only about continuing to take money from people.
