The PT threatens to break with Morena and fracture the 4T
The Labor Party accuses Morena of acting with arrogance and stubbornness, which has led to freezing their relationship
Reginaldo Sandoval, PT coordinator, warned that they will remain outside the Fourth Transformation if the lack of dialogue and respect persists. He pointed out that the imposition of decisions has damaged the political relationship built around the 4T project, affecting the unity they once boasted. He recalled that alliances must be based on dignified treatment, not unilateral orders.
Sandoval called for rebuilding agreements on the basis of equality and recognition. He warned that if this dynamic is not corrected, their permanence in the alliance is not guaranteed.
Warning of rupture
Sandoval pointed out that if this dynamic continues, the PT doesn't rule out competing on its own in future elections, as it has already done in Veracruz. In that state, they decided to present their own candidacy due to Morena's refusal to yield significant spaces.
Additionally, the PT has expressed its disagreement with the electoral reform proposed by Morena, considering that it affects their interests and reduces their representation.
A satellite party
This way, the PT argues that the officialdom is not yielding to their demands. However, this party lacks real representativeness.
Such is the case of Chihuahua, where it operates as a family business, or at the national level where until recently its natural ally was the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
Everything seems to indicate that the leftist party would seek to blackmail the strongest of the alliance to continue living off the public treasury.
A legislative relief
If the rupture between the PT and Morena is finalized, the consequences for the officialdom could be dire. Without the PT's votes, Morena would lose the qualified majority necessary to continue with its agenda.
This would jeopardize President Claudia Sheinbaum's projects and give the country a breather, after the infamous constitutional reforms carried out by the official bloc.
Call for dialogue
In light of this situation, Morena leaders like Ricardo Monreal have recognized the importance of the PT in the coalition and have called for dialogue to solve the differences.
However, the PT insists on being treated with respect and having their contribution to the movement recognized.
Meanwhile, in Morena, there is growing concern that a definitive rupture could complicate their electoral prospects, especially in states where PT's support has been key to recent victories.
The outcome will depend on the ability of both parties to rebuild a political pact based on mutual respect. If they fail to do so, the Fourth Transformation could sink into its own contradictions, trapped between parties that claim to defend the people while dividing power as in the old days.
