Mexico City, February 17, 2025. Fátima Mayte Zavala, a 13-year-old student at Daytime Secondary School No. 236 in Iztapalapa, was brutally thrown from the third floor of her school by a classmate who bullied her due to her musical preferences.
The attack occurred on February 14, 2025 and left the minor with pelvic fractures and other serious injuries. She is currently hospitalized in a delicate condition.
The negligence of school authorities
According to the victim's family, Fátima had been bullied for months by her aggressor. Despite previous complaints, the school authorities completely ignored the case, allowing the bullying to escalate to this brutal attack.
After the attack, the family has reported the lack of support from the school and the Public Education Secretariat (SEP), institutions that have so far tried to downplay what happened.
International reactions and social mobilization
The case has crossed borders. The Embassy of South Korea in Mexico expressed its concern and demanded a thorough investigation to sanction those responsible.
Additionally, the K-pop community in Mexico has expressed its outrage and has called for mobilizations to demand justice for Fátima.

The Attorney General's Office of Mexico City has launched an investigation to clarify the facts and determine responsibilities. However, so far, there have been no decisive sanctions or clear statements from the government of Claudia Sheinbaum.
