Digitalization of Nuevo León's Pueblos Mágicos: Boost to Local Tourism
In an effort to modernize and boost tourism, the government of Nuevo León has begun the digitalization of its five Magical Towns: Santiago, Linares, Bustamante, Montemorelos, and Arteaga.
This initiative aims to improve the visitor experience and strengthen the local economy of these communities.

Digitalization Strategy Underway
The Secretary of Tourism of Nuevo León, Maricarmen Martínez, reported that the digitalization project is in the planning phase.
Governor Samuel García has met with BBVA executives, who are leading this project, with the goal of accelerating its implementation before the FIFA World Cup 2026.

This strategy aligns with the National Crusade for Tourism Digitalization in Magical Towns, launched by the federal Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Google.
The goal is for the 132 Magical Towns of Mexico to adopt digital tools like Google Maps, YouTube, and Waze to promote their tourist attractions.
Benefits for Local Tourism
Digitalization will allow tourists to easily access information about attractions, services, and events in real-time.
Additionally, it seeks for local businesses, such as hotels and restaurants, to adopt digital platforms to improve their promotion and sales.
This technological transformation will not only enrich the visitor experience but also boost the economy of these communities by attracting a greater number of tourists.
Preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026
With an eye on the FIFA World Cup 2026, Nuevo León aims to be at the forefront of tourism infrastructure.
The digitalization of the Magical Towns is a key piece in this strategy, as a significant influx of national and international visitors is expected during the event.
Having modernized and digitally accessible tourist destinations will position the state as a reference in cultural and technological tourism.
International Experiences in Tourism Digitalization
Internationally, the adoption of digital technologies has proven effective in tourism promotion.
For example, AR Vision, a software company in Granada, Spain, has developed immersive experiences through virtual and augmented reality for more than 200 municipalities.
This measure has allowed tourists to access recreations of historical buildings and past landscapes from their mobile devices.
Challenges and Opportunities
The implementation of digitalization in the Magical Towns of Nuevo León presents challenges, such as the training of tourism service providers in the use of digital tools and the necessary technological infrastructure.
However, the opportunities are vast, from the creation of new tourist offerings to the possibility of attracting a broader and more diverse audience.
The digitalization of the Magical Towns of Nuevo León represents a strategic bet to revitalize local tourism and prepare the state for international events, such as the FIFA World Cup 2026.
By integrating technology and culture, it seeks to offer unique experiences to visitors and strengthen the economy of these emblematic communities.
