PAN halts abortion in Guanajuato and defends life from conception
With a majority in the Justice Commission, Acción Nacional rejects the progressive onslaught of Morena and MC
The Justice Commission of the Guanajuato Congress rejected the initiatives of Morena and Movimiento Ciudadano that sought to decriminalize abortion in the state. This decision reinforces the essential values of respect for life and human dignity.
The rejection was supported by the PAN majority in the commission, with three decisive votes from the Partido Acción Nacional (PAN). The legislators opposed proposals that aimed to allow abortion up to 12 weeks of gestation, labeling it as the murder of a human being in the womb.

PAN Deputy Susana Bermúdez was the main spokesperson for the pro-life stance. She argued that decriminalization would violate the constitutional spirit of the state of Guanajuato.
"It transgresses what is established in the first article of the Constitution of Guanajuato," she stated.
"That article guarantees the right to life from conception to death."

Guanajuato remains firm
The initiative sought to allow abortion up to 12 weeks of gestation. It also proposed exceptions in cases of rape, risk to the mother, or severe fetal malformations.
The Congress's decision represents a firm commitment to the defense of life and the essential values of Guanajuato society.

Several states in the country have yielded to progressive pressure. Guanajuato, meanwhile, remains firm in its stance to protect life from conception.
PAN thus reaffirms its role as a pro-life bastion. The party has seen its identity diluted under the influence of progressive trends. This action marks a necessary return to its ideological roots and the defense of the most vulnerable.
