Mexico City, February 17. A 13-year-old teenager, identified as Fátima, suffered a brutal attack at her secondary school located in the Iztapalapa district. According to reports, a classmate threw her from the third floor of the building due to her liking for K-pop.
The incident occurred at Daytime Secondary School No. 236, where the minor fell from a great height, causing her a pelvic fracture. Her health condition is delicate, and she has required multiple blood transfusions.
Complaints ignored by the school
The minor's father revealed that Fátima had previously reported being a victim of bullying by at least three classmates. However, the school authorities took no measures to protect her.
After the minor was admitted to the hospital, her father stated that the school has not contacted them to provide explanations or support.
The father commented that, on several occasions, he went to the school principal to report the harassment his daughter was suffering. However, he was sent to the vice principal and social work, without any concrete actions being taken.
Additionally, Fátima had confessed to him that she was beaten and harassed on social media by her classmates.
"Nobody paid attention to me," the father denounced.
Korean Embassy in Mexico condemns the aggression
The case of Fátima has caused national and international outrage. The Korean Embassy in Mexico issued a statement in which it rejected the harassment and violence the minor suffered due to her interest in Korean culture.
"We join in rejecting the aggression, harassment, and school bullying that the girl Fátima suffered for her preference for K-pop."
Furthermore, the embassy condemned the attacks against young people who enjoy K-pop and urged the authorities to take measures to prevent such cases from happening again.
Mario Delgado attempts to downplay the case
After the confirmation of an investigation file by the Attorney General's Office (FGJ) of Mexico City, the head of the SEP, Mario Delgado, declared that "there is no information that she was pushed", in an attempt to downplay the seriousness of the case.
However, after meeting with the minor's mother, he acknowledged that Fátima was indeed a victim of bullying. Her classmates mocked her for her interest in Korean culture and the K-pop music genre.
For now, the investigation remains open, and it is expected that responsibilities will be determined in the coming days.
