The threat of tariffs from the United States against Mexican products remains in effect. This time, the focus is on the automotive sector.
Former President Donald Trump warned that he will impose tariffs on vehicles manufactured in Mexico if they enter U.S. territory. He justified the measure by arguing that production in Mexico harms U.S. automotive workers.

Trump insists on protecting the U.S. industry
In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that Mexico has expanded its automotive production with the aim of selling cars in the U.S. However, he won't allow it.
"In Mexico, they are building plants everywhere to manufacture cars that they will sell in the United States. I say: 'No way.' We are going to impose big tariffs on those cars. I don't want them", he declared.
Trump recalled that he received great support from businessmen, employees, and unions in the automotive sector upon his arrival at the White House. Now he seeks to return the favor with this policy.
